When Sonia was born in 1946, there was no indication of her being psychic, or of her later becoming a mystic. Her start in life was quite normal. She was born to a common loving, caring family. Her upbringing did not include any form of religious education, so there was no religious indoctrination during her youth. She grew up as a happy teenager. After finishing secondary education, during which she specialised in maths and sciences, she became one of the first female computer programmers in the Netherlands. After three-and-a-half years this career came to an end when she got married at the age of 21. As was normal in that day and age, she was the mother of a son and a daughter at the age of 24. The saying: 'And she lived happily ever after…' might have applied, were it not that life had other plans in store for her. Awareness Due to prolonged periods of illness in her young family, Sonia was purified by adversity during early adulthood and she had to endure the many emotions that surround suffering. The numerous visits to hospitals in foreign countries where she was either living at the time or on holiday, and the series of operations and therapies, conventional and alternative, were continuous. Sonia underwent a crash course 'How to keep going under difficult circumstances', and also 'How to still believe in life?' She set out on her path to awareness with vigour and that quest was led by her deep inner knowing: and still I believe that life is love! At the age of 27 she decided to keep believing in life's love and to find this love, no matter what life would bring.
This is how her quest for truth and love began, as well as life's justice, for she had experienced enough problems to understand that not everything in life is shared fairly. First, she acquainted herself with the concepts of the Dutch Reformed Church, leading her to adopt the idea of the existence of God. Consequently, she discovered the teachings on karma and reincarnation, through which life gained justice in her eyes. She also learned to meditate, enabling her to find life's love in herself; leading to the development of her psychic abilities.
She decided to follow a course to become a yoga teacher and looked for one led by a guru who would teach her. However, she was soon disappointed to discover that this guru's interests were not in her spiritual development and she decided that being a yoga teacher was not for her. Partly through this negative experience, she came to the conclusion that no other person, no religion or institution could be one's true master. She realised then that truth and life's love are present in each human being and that each person can access these through meditation.
Searching for the inner master After having decided to give up her desire to become a yoga teacher and to have a personal guru, she chose to put up the well-known picture of Jesus taken from the Turin shroud in her meditation room. Her thoughts were, 'You, my friend, You have understood the mystery of life and have disclosed it within Yourself. I put my trust in You, please show me the way. Teach me how to live and how to work'. Uninhibited by religious indoctrination she embarked on her path, meditating in front of the picture day after day, year after year. When she started working as a healer - having disclosed in herself the power of healing through meditation - this call became louder and louder, 'Master, please teach me how I can work...'.
Then, one day, two and a half years later, at dusk, when she was meditating on this subject in front of this photo, with a candle which had almost burnt itself out, she suddenly -whilst experiencing a very intense touch - heard a voice within:
"If you let Me work through you, your little candle stump will become an immense light!"
The little candle stump, which had almost died out, suddenly flared up and spread an intense light which completely filled the by now almost dark room. The light became so very bright that it pierced her closed eyes. Startled she opened her eyes, extinghuised the little candle stump that had spread so much light and, after lighting a new one straight away, she began doubting what she had just experienced. Because of her doubt she rejected the words she had heard and continued her meditation…Teach me how to work…Until the same phenomenon occurred again, but this time with the newly lit candle. Once again she heard the words: "If you let Me work through you, your little candle stump will become an immense light!" And so she found her Master as an inner Love within her.
A guided spiritual education begins From that day on, at the age of 34, Sonia was from time to time - but very directly - inspired by Him and therefore her spiritual growth accelerated. Because of her orientation on the Christ within her, almost all of the paranormal powers of sight (clairvoyance), hearing and feeling developed within her, as well as the gift of healing. She spoke in public (inspired by Him) and she learned to see into past and future lives. Gradually, the gateway to the akasha of life opened where she learned how to view the universal truth of life. Consequently, she became a mystic.
Along the way, Sonia gradually learnt to release her attachment to her paranormal powers. She understood that these powers were only meant as tools through which her universal guidance (the Christ, later the Creator) was able to communicate with her and through which mystical knowledge from within the akasha of life, deep within herself, could be transferred. In the meantime, her practice as a healer had grown considerably. From being a healer she became a paranormal healer and even a spiritual healer. Because of her access to the akasha her healing work became more and more universal, even holistic. Eventually, she came to understand that she was a born mystic who had been called to engage with and give shape to related tasks. She gave up her practice and began her life's work.
